✦ Why fish from Punta Mita

Closer to the
big fish

Punta Mita sits at the mouth of Banderas Bay, so you're on the fishing grounds within minutes instead of crossing the bay from the marina. Big game trips run out to La Corbeteña and El Banco, some of the most productive marlin and tuna water on Mexico's Pacific coast.

Questions

Before you
book

Where do we board the boat?

Right on the beach at the St. Regis Punta Mita, where our fishing partner keeps its boats and beach stand. It's a short ride from the Four Seasons, the W, the Conrad and every villa in Punta Mita, so there's no drive to the marina.

Are these the same boats the resorts offer?

Yes. The Punta Mita resorts book the same local fleet and crews, then add their own markup. Booking direct with us, the same boat and service costs about 20% less.

When is the best time to fish in Punta Mita?

Banderas Bay has good fishing all year. Marlin and sailfish peak from November to March, dorado from July to September, and roosterfish and yellowfin tuna are around year-round. See the calendar above for each species.

What's included?

A private boat, professional captain and first mate, fishing guide, all rods, reels, tackle and bait, water, sodas and snacks, and cleaning of your catch with ice to take it home.

How do I pay?

Reserve with 50% online by card or PayPal once we confirm availability (a 4% card fee is included in that payment). The other 50% is paid in cash, in USD or pesos, at check-in on the day of your trip. We remind you of the exact amount the day before.

Is inshore or big game better for us?

Inshore (4 hours) stays in calmer coastal water and is ideal for families, kids and first-timers. Big game (8 hours) goes offshore to La Corbeteña for marlin, dorado and tuna, and is best for experienced anglers who don't mind open water.

Can kids come along?

Yes. Inshore trips are a favorite for families. Just tell us their ages when you book so the crew can prepare the right gear and life jackets.

We're staying at Mandarina. Can we still go?

Yes. Mandarina guests board at Marina La Cruz, and we include your round-trip private transfer with the driver waiting for you. See our Mandarina door-to-boat page.
